Bologna 2 Fulham 2

A late Sylvain Legwinski strike earned Fulham a priceless 2-2 draw away
 to Bologna in the first-leg of their InterToto Cup Final.
Trailing 2-1 with only five minutes remaining the Frenchman popped up 
and fired home and equaliser for the West London team, after substitute 
Louis Saha missed his shot in the penalty area.
The home side took lead shortly after half time when Sean Davis committed 
a clumsy tackle in the penalty area gifting former Italian international 
striker Guiseppe Signori the chance to score from the spot.

With the Fulham looking up against it, manager Jean Tigana made a double 
substitution bringing on Junichi Inamoto and Saha for Steed Malbranque
and Barry Hayles.

終了近くにシルヴァン・レグウィンスキのゴールでフラムはインタートトカップ、決勝の第一戦、
ボローニャに対して値千金の２−２の引き分けにもちこんだ。
残り５分でまだ２−１、交代してでてきたルイ・サハがペナルティエリアで惜しいシュートを放ち、
そのあと、シルヴァンは突然ゴールを決め西ロンドンチームを同点にしたのだ。

ハーフタイムの後、ホーム側はリードをとった。ショーン・デイビスがペナルティエリアで
下手なタックルでPKを与え、元イタリア代表のストライカージュゼッペ・シニョリがそれを決めた。
フラムはそれに対し、ジャン・ティガナ監督が二人の交代をした。
マルブランクとヘイルズをジュンイチ・イナモトとサハに替えた。

The changes had an immediate impact for the visitors with Inamoto scoring
 his first goal for the club after being on the pitch for only three minutes.
However, The Cottagers failed to tighten-up at the back and let the home side 
re-take the lead when a defensive mix-up gave Bologna a second penalty, 
with Signori making no mistake from 12 yards out
Just when it looked like a place in the Uefa Cup place was slipping away 
from the Premiership side Legwinski popped up and nicked a point to set 
up an intriguing second leg tie at Loftus Road.

しかし、フラムはしっかりと守ることができず、再びホーム側にリードを許した。
ディフェンスの混乱から２度目のペナルティをボローニャに与えてしまい、シニョリが
きっちりと１２ヤードの距離を決めた。
まさにUEFAカップの出場権がプレミアの手から滑り落ちそうに思えたその時、
レグウィンスキがゴールを決め、ロフタスロードでの第２試合を面白いものにしてくれた。

Japanese livewire Junichi Inamoto sparked Fulham's European dream back 
into life with a stunning substitute appearance against Bologna.
The Londoners, with two away goals to their names, will be confident of 
winning a place in the UEFA Cup after twice battling back to level the scores 
in the first leg of their Intertoto Cup final.
Bologna scored through two Giuseppe Signori penalties, but Inamoto scored 
the first leveller just two minutes after taking to the field and
 Sylvain Legwinski earned Jean Tigana's team the draw five minutes from the end.
Both teams drew a blank in a scrappy first half but it was Bologna, 
who had beaten Teplice and BATE Borisov in their earlier rounds, 
who were more positive.
Tigana left striker Louis Saha on the bench, preferring a front two of 
Barry Hayles and Luis Boa Morte, but neither could make an impression 
on a well-organised Bologna back line and Giuseppe Pagliuca was hardly
 tested in goal.
In attack for Bologna, former Italy striker Signori was posing problems
 for Andy Melville and Alain Goma.

日本のジュンイチ・イナモトが、ボローニャ戦で素晴らしい交代出場を果たし、
潰えそうになったフラムのヨーロッパ進出の夢に息を吹き返すエネルギーを送ってくれた。

ボローニャは２つのシニョリのPKで得点したが、イナモトのフィールドに出てから２分後のゴールで
最初の同点となり、レグウィンスキの最後の５分のゴールでひきわけた。

両チームとも前半はまとまりがなく無得点だった。
だが、これまでに手ごわいTeplice（チェコのチーム） やBATE Boriso（ベラルーシのチーム）を
倒してきたボローニャなのだ。
ティガナはFWルイ・サハをベンチに残し、バリー・ヘイルズとルイス・ボアモルテの
２トップにしたが、どちらもよく組織化されたボローニャの守備を前にして精彩がなく、
Pagliucaはほとんどゴールをおびやかされなかった。
ボローニャの攻撃は元イタリア代表ストライカー、シニョリがメルヴィルとゴマを
翻弄していた。

Fulham had begun defensively but they were pulled out of their shell 
in the 56th minute when Melville was drawn into a foul on Carlo Nervo, 
giving away the first penalty in the process.
Signori tucked away the spot-kick to the left of Edwin van der Saar, 
but it was a short-lived lead.
Seeking more creativity, Tigana brought on Inamoto and he quickly proved 
his World Cup exploits for Japan were no fluke.
The attacking midfielder, who replaced Steed Malbranque in the 60th minute,
scored the leveller just two minutes after going onto the field.
Recalling the wonder-goal he scored in the World Cup opener against Belgium, I
namoto won the ball in midfield before dribbling past two defenders and
 scoring to Gianluca Pagliuca's right.

イナモトは中盤でボールを奪い、ドリブルで２人のディフェンダーを抜き去り

But Fulham had to do it all again after they gave away another penalty 
with 15 minutes left to play.
Abdeslam Ouaddou was the guilty party on this occasion, bringing down Julio Cruz.
Captain Signori again took the kick and again beat giant Dutchman Van der Sar.
Cruz should have wrapped up the game for Bologna but the Argentinian striker 
passed up two good chances to score.
While they were wasteful up front, the Italians were increasingly casual 
at the back - an approach that was punished when Legwinski volleyed home 
sweetly from Marlet's 85th-minute cross.
Bologna gave the impression that Fulham had seen the best of them which 
should make Tigana's side slight favourites for next week's return leg.

しかしフラムは試合残り時間１５分のところでペナルティを与えてしまい
再びリードをとられた。
今回はアブデスラム・ウァドゥに責任がある、彼はジュリオ・クルズを倒してしまった。
シニョリがふたたびＰＫを蹴り、ジャイアントダッチマン、ファンデルサールをまかした。

クルズはボローニャのためにゲームを終わらせるべきだった。しかしこのアルゼンチン
ストライカーは絶好の得点チャンスを２回逃した。
ボローニャの前線が好機をのがす一方、バックはしだいに不安定になり、
85分マルレのクロスからレグヴィンスキにボレーをきもちよく決められることとなった。

ボローニャのおかげで翌週のリターンレグはティガナ率いるフラムの方が
少し優勢となったみたいな印象を与えたのだった。
